It is incredible to celebrate all the accomplishments and achievements from women of the past but I also feel it is paramount to support our future women for a fairer and equal world tomorrow. ⁠♀💜🌍

Did you know->⁠
-Women make up more than two-thirds of the world's 796 million illiterate people⁠
-129 million girls globally are out of school⁠
-South Sudan is the hardest place in the world for a girl to receive an education even at primary school level - 73percent don’t go to school⁠
-More than half of girls of the 10 worst countries to provide female education are married before their 18th birthday⁠
-A survey found that one to two per cent of Zambian girls - equivalent to around 8,000 girls aged 14 or 15 reports some form of sexual abuse by a teacher⁠

Every girl should have safe access to education and is the strongest way to empower women globally. Investing in girls' education has a huge ripple effect; for the individual, she is far less likely to marry young and more likely to have a healthy and fulfilling life, she will also be much better equipped to help support her family and breaks them out of poverty. This raises communities and countries and in turn, closes the wealth gap. ⁠

Due to a combination of habitat loss and being poached for their coats and bones, these beautiful beasts are on the decline with fewer than 400 Sumatran and Siberian tigers alike remaining in the wild. In fact, today there are more tigers in captivity than in the wild and a lot in abusive situations - I’m guessing everyone has seen #tigerking !!!?   

We need to put a stop towards such cruelty and help #wildtiger numbers to grow - this year, next year, every year from now on.

Not used to posting on here without hiding behind my pictures to be honest. BUT I just want to say thank you so much for all the support. I didn't think being a full time freelancer was possible for most of my 20's and almost gave up entirely, but just when i was about to throw in the towel things started changing for the better and now as a 30 something I'm finally doing what I love full time.

So this is a thank you post - but also I just want to let you know, it's never too late to go after what you want!

New year new stories. I'm so please to be able to introduce you all to the wonderful Wombat and Jones. I was lucky enough to be able to work on this cover illustration last year for the super talented Arran Francis who has written and been published by multiple BBC CBeebies Radio series. The Great Clothing Conundrum introduces young listeners to the idea of reusing items with pre-loved clothing, thrift stores and swap shops all featuring as Wombat & Jones embark on another problem solving adventure. It’s available now from various retailers internationally.

The story is super engaging, funny and great for encouraging environmentalism in a fun way. It features the most amazing and lovable characters who the narrator does an amazing job of bringing to life with various accents. I absolutely loved listening to these stories whilst doodling away!

Wow #artvsartist has flown around fast, I guess I should come out of hiding at least once this year! Just reflecting on 2021 has made me a teeny weeny bit emotional - its had it’s fair share of ups and downs, but I feel super grateful to have worked on some fantastic projects, more to be revealed in the new year! I’ve been fortunate enough to have met some wonderful people on here and I’ve loved seeing what everyone else has been up to within the #kidlit community as well as other #creative industries! I just want to also say thank you for all the support through 2021, this has been my first year full time freelancing and I don’t think I could have done it without the help of my amazing friends. Really excited for 2022!
